This arrived in our inbox today from Bronnie Ware
She’s the lady who was famous for talking about the top five regrets of the dying now read by millions
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
She made a lot of people (especially those like us entering midlife) sit up and take notice and many have made life changing decisions as a result of her sharing those five regrets.
She continues to inspire and hence the share of her words that arrived today “Light And Dark”
“I think about you all more often than you know, wondering how you’re doing out there or, as the case is for many, in there – at home still in some form of lockdown.
Life insists on cracking us all open at some time or another, and certainly I know of many who have been broken completely during these last 12 months.
But I also know many of those who are already grateful for the shift in priorities these challenges have forced.
There are also many who have found positivity through these disruptions. We all receive our fair share of both through life. I remember a time when others were laughing and enjoying life with ease, and I was just dragging myself out of darkness trying to find a new way to live.
There is always a balance of light and dark unfolding in the world. I remember hearing people laughing when I was so far from it, but it helped me remember the feeling and gave me hope that I would experience it again. It took a while, but I did come to know easier times again, even with laughter that brought tears of joy and aching cheeks.
Hold onto hope as the dear friend it is. If it is absent, just think of it as taking a rest. It will return. There is still much to look forward to in your life.
I wish you strength for whatever is unfolding. I also wish you love and joy.
Holding you all in my heart
